This project is a double rack and pinion system which converts rotary motor motion to linear rack and pinion motion. You will learn how to design a rack and pinion system using Fusion 360 3D modelling application. Let's get started.

Open Fusion 360 application. Click on Utilities on the top of the Fusion 360 application. Select Spur Gear to make pinion gear. Select Helical / Straight Gear Rack to make rack.

Select module = 1mm, Number of teeth = 47, Gear height = 10mm, Pressure angle = 20mm.
Pitch diameter (d) = Module (m) x Number of teeth (z)
47mm = 1mm x 47
Helical / Straight Gear Rack Building

Select module = 1mm, Number of teeth = 50, Rack thickness = 10mm, Pressure angle = 20mm, Rack height = 5mm.
The overall rack height will give 72.5 mm and the overall rack length will give 156.439mm.
Putting All Parts Together

We will need the following 3D prints:
4 x Rack 50 teeth 1mm
2 x Pinion 47 teeth 1mm
2 x R and P support short
3 x R and P support long
1 x Motor Mount
We specifically need one JGA25-370 motor because to fit the motor mount.
We need 50mm long M3 screws and nuts.
