Donut Coasters
This is a fun and quirky way to avoid spills and coffee rings! Plus who doesn't love a good sprinkled donut? Anyone with a soul that's who.
I'll be showing you how to make these donut coasters. Although this DIY is simple, it turns out great and you can definitely get creative with it! I made these for a video all about DIY Summer Party Decorations, so you can check out the video below for more fun DIYs.

You Will Need...
Here's all the materials that you will need:
- Cork
- Scissors
- Pencil/Marker
- X-Acto knife
- Acrylic Paint in multiple colours
The best part is you can get all of these things at the dollar store!
Cut the Cork
Draw a circle on the cork using a compass. I was feeling a little rebellious so I just eyeballed it. Then cut the cork, being careful not to tear it.
Draw an Inner Circle
Using a pen or marker, draw a smaller circle in the centre of the cork. The size of my circle was about an inch. Again, you can use a compass, but I'm a risk taker.
Carve Out the Small Circle
With the X-Acto knife, cut around the circle that was just drawn. It is easier to do this if you keep your knife still, while rotating the cork.
After popping out the small circle, I found that the edges were a little rough. I used the X-Acto knife to scrape off any loose and jagged cork bits.
Paint the Icing!
Start to paint the base icing colour on using good old acrylic paint. Choose whatever colour you desire! To give it more of a realistic feel, I made the outline sort of wavy.
Avoid the outer edge of the donut. Your icing should just stay near the inner circle.
Also, you may have to give it a couple coats, because when it dries, it gets darker.
Add the Sprinkles
Using multiple paint colours, add sprinkles on top of your donut coaster. The easiest way to do this is to use a thin brush and draw short lines.
Try to spread out the colours! Watch your donut come to life :)
Finished!
And that's it! Don't they look yummy?
It's a pretty simple and fool proof DIY, but I think it turns out great! These coasters are definitely adorable and a great conversation starter. Have fun making donuts!
