Fabric with small prints work best for this project.

Supplies Needed

cans, a cereal box, fabric scraps, glue gun & glue sticks, measuring tape, denim scraps. needle and thread.

Making the Pattern

open up the cereal box and flatten out. make a paper pattern that you can reuse. make the top corners curved. This is the back of the chair. curve two of the corners.This piece will be glued to the front of the back of the chair.

Cutting Out the Denim

Cut 3 circles out of the denim scraps, Cut a piece of denim to cover the can. Glue onto the outside of the can. Cut a piece of denim. Glue this onto the front of the seat back.

Cutting Out the Fabric

Cut a circle out of the fabric. This is going on the seat cushion. Cut a piece to go around the can.

Covering the Pieces With Fabric

Place the fabric circle wrong side up on the table in front of you. bring the fabric up and over and glue it to the cardboard. Repeat with the front of the back of the chair. Glue the fabric around the can. Cover the back of the chair with fabric. Glue the back of the chair to the can.

Making the Ruffle

turn under the bottom of one of the long ends. Hem this side. with a needle and thread. Gather the other long side and pin to the band. sew the ruffle to the band. fold the band up and over to the backside of the ruffle. Pin. Stitch the band down covering the raw edges of the ruffle.

Attaching the Ruffle

glue the ruffle all the way around the chair.

Finishing the Chair

glue the cushion to the seat and then glue the front of the back to the back of the back.

Table

Cut 2 circles out of regular cardboard.

Covering the Can With Fabric

Cut a piece of scrap denim to fit around can. Cut 2 circles out of fabric. Glue fabric around can & glue fabric onto both pieces of cardboard. Glue the fabric covered circles wrong sides together. press together. The top of the soup can is now the bottom of the table. Glue one side of the fabric covered circle to what used to be the bottom of the can.
