Supplies
To teach your dog to walk on your feet, you'll need:
- Your Dog (obviously!)
- Some treats
Lure your dog in between your legs. Reward them when they are in the correct position. At this stage, don't worry about luring them onto your feet. We just want them to be comfortable standing in between our legs. Make sure your dog is comfortable before moving on.
Turn your feet inwards so your toes touch.
Lure your dog in between your legs and onto your feet. Reward your dog when they first touch your feet. Then when they're comfortable, try luring your dog onto your feet and rewarding them in position. You can then begin to gradually move your feet apart, keeping in mind the size of your dog.
Slowly start to move your feet when your dog is in position. If you can't take a full step yet, try just shifting your weight from one foot to another.
You can then start to add in your verbal cue. I like to use "cop cop", but you can choose whichever word you like.
