Dog Loft Bed

Dog bed loft to go over a dogs kennel. This was made for a smaller dog but can be changed for any size.

Materials Needed

Different materials used:

2 1x8x8

1 1x4x8

Sheet of ply wood 31x21

6 2x4x24 inches

1 1/2 inch wood screws

3 inch screws

Corner brackets (1 inch)

Hinges 1 1/2 inch

Wood Stain

Paint Brush

Dog bed/mat

Power Saw

Power Screwdriver

Tape Measure

Drafting Square

Electric Sander

Create 2 L Shaped Leg, and Screw to Ply Wood.

Screw 4 screws onto the ply wood and screw two together.

Add on Two Front Legs and Screw to Base.

Screw onto the top of the base with two screws for each leg.

Cut Back Board and Screw to Base.

Cut back board 31 inches (from 1x8) and attach with two screws on each side.

Cut Two Sides and Screw to Base.

Cut 2 side boards 23 inches (from 1x8) and attach with two screws on each side.

Cut and Attach Front and Bottom Boards.

Cut front board 31 inches (from 1x4) and bottom board 31 inches (1x4). Screw front board with 1 screw on each side. Screw bottom board on with two screws on each side.

Reinforce Sides With Hinge Brackets and Add Corner L Brackets.

Add hinges to sides (from middle of boards)and base to help reinforce.

I needed to add another little board on to make it a little bigger for my dog. But the size of the ply wood will still depend on how big your dog is.

Add 4 corner L brackets. One in each corner.

Sand and Stain Wood.

Sand wood by hand or electric sander is easier. Coat wood with wood stain..

Add on Dog Bed.

Finally add a dog bed onto the top of the base and you are finished.
