Dog-Friendly Frozen Treats Six Ways

It's the time of year where our furry friends need to cool off, and these frozen snacks can help! They're tasty, nutritious, and made of readily available ingredients.

I used ice pop forms and mini bone-shaped silicone molds, but you can freeze your dog treats in any type of mold, or even just in disposable cups.

While each type of ice pop only requires 2-3 ingredients, here is the total list of ingredients used:

- Raspberries

- Plain yogurt

- Blueberries

- Peanut butter

- Banana

- Peas

- Chopped carrots

- Low-sodium chicken broth

- Watermelon

- Canned pumpkin

- Bone-shaped dog biscuits (to use as a popsicle stick, optional)

Pumpkin is loaded with vitamins and aids with canine digestion, which makes it a fantastic ingredient for your pet. Plus, its bright orange hue makes these frozen treats just as pretty as they are tasty.

Fill your molds 1/4-1/3 of the way with plain yogurt. In a bowl, combine equal parts yogurt and pumpkin puree and mix until combined. Then, use the pumpkin mixture to completely fill the molds. Add dog biscuit, if desired, and freeze completely.

Place peas and blueberries into your molds as desired, and then fill them the rest of the way with chicken broth. Freeze completely, then serve.

These tri-toned treats look like the classic red, white, and blue rocket pop and are perfect for the Fourth of July!

Mash raspberries until they fill your molds 1/3 of the way. Then, add a thick layer of plain yogurt. In a separate bowl, mash blueberries with either a fork or hand blender, and use the mixture to fill the molds completely. Insert dog biscuit if desired, and freeze until set.

These pink popsicles only require one ingredient! Using a melon baller or spoon, scoop enough watermelon to fill your molds completely. Then, puree using either a hand blender or fork and fill molds with the mixture. Then, freeze completely.

I think these are my dog's favorite. In a bowl, combine equal parts peanut butter and yogurt with a small piece of mashed banana. Carefully spoon into the molds, freeze, and serve.

Place a small layer of peas in your molds, followed by a layer of chopped carrots. Fill the rest of each mold with chicken broth.

Because this mixture is less viscous than the others, in order to place a dog biscuit, cover each mold with a layer of plastic wrap, poke a hole in the plastic, then place the biscuit inside. Freeze well, then remove from the molds.

Finally, let your pet enjoy! Make sure to always supervise your dog when giving him a treat, and consult a veterinarian before making large pet dietary changes.
