I'm a 16 year old High School student and in this instructable I will be showing you how to make a rustic looking and beautiful desk lamp shade out of recycled paper and a few simple tools. Hope you enjoy.

Supplies

Thick paper or Poster board

Instant Coffee

Glue

Tools

Scissor

Ruler

Pencil

Glue gun

Layout and Cutting

On a piece of poster board draw a rectangle 12cm x 36cm.

Draw 2 circles with a 10cm diameter.

On one of the circles cut out the center as shown in the pictures. This will be the bottom of the lamp shade.

Cut out all the pieces that you drew on the poster board.

These dimensions are for a medium sized light bulb.

They will have to be scaled up or down for different size light bulbs.

Coffee Staining (Optonal)

This step is optional but I fine it gives the light a more rustic look.

Mix some instant coffee with water and pour it onto your pieces to get an even stain.

If you want it to have darker and lighter stains take some coffee kernels and sprinkle them lightly on top.

This gives it a nice rustic look.

Assembly

I used a hot glue gun to assemble but super glue would work as well.

Take the circle that has a hole in it and slowly glue the rectangle around it creating a cylinder.

Refer to the pictures if your having trouble.

Then positon the shade on the light bulb socket.

Once that is done screw in the light bulb.

The last thing to do is to glue your other circle on to the top of the shade like a lid.

Enjoy
