Almost everyone has an old printer lying around so in this Instructable I will be showing you how to make a kitchen knife from an old printer.

Materials For This Project.

Metal plate from old printer.

Old knife handle.

Tools Used.

Sharpie.

Metal Shears.

File.

Taking Apart the Printer

First unscrew the plastics on the printer.

Then look for a metal plate inside the printer.

Find the screws that attach it and take them out.

Now take the metal plate that you took out of the printer and draw the shape that you want you're knife to be.

Cutting Out the Knife

Now that you have the shape of the knife drawn out you can take the metal shears and cut out the rough shape of the knife.

After you cut out the knife you can use a file to get the exact shape you want.

Sharpening the Knife

For this step you can use a file or an angle grinder.

I used a file to make it more beginner friendly.

Take the file and start filing the edge of the knife at an angle till you get an edge on the knife.

Test the knife for sharpness and file it again if necessary.

Then you can go ahead and put the handle on the knife and glue it with hotglue.
