Disposable Fountain Liner to Turn Plant Container Into a Fountain
I made an outdoor fountain out of an old plant container, some rocks and a solar water pump. However, the container developed a crack in it and would not hold water anymore. I needed something to water proof this pot AND I wanted it to be
- Cheap
- Disposable (but environmentally friendly)
- Food safe
Cheap goes without saying, but I really wanted it to be disposable so that I can chuck the liner when it got gross and since my dog views this has her personal water dish it needed to be food safe.
Solution
Dog food bag. The food that my dog get comes in is made up of a heavy duty water proof plastic-ish bag.
- It was the right size to fit in the fountain.
- It was free.
- It was environmentally friendly since I am reusing the bag.
- It is disposable.
This check all of my boxes.
Supplies
- Container
- Pet food bag (plastic ones) that are large enough to fit around the container.
Make Fountain Liner
- Cut top of bag
- Fluff out bag
- Roll the top of the bag until it fits below the fountain
- Place in fountain / container.
- (optional) Add water pump and rocks
- Add water
- Enjoy
I wanted the darker color on the inside to inhibit moss growth. But either the white side or non white side will work.
