Windchimes are fun decor for any backyard area. When I noticed I had a multitude of different metal pieces that were otherwise gonna be discarded and my backyard needed some decor, I figured why not make a metal windchime. This instructable will teach you how to make your own wind chime.

Supplies

  • Various metal pieces (tubes are recommended)
  • Craft Wire
  • A Drill
  • Pliers
  • Wire cutters

Prepare Your Metal Tubes and Pieces

Step 1.jpg

As this step states, you are going to prepare your metal tubes by drilling holes big enough to snake wire through them. Be careful when handling the drill and take the proper safety precautions.

Wrapping the Wire

Step 2.jpg

When done with preparing the metal pieces, you can wrap the wire around any pieces that you want to you use for your wind chime as I have displayed above.

Also, keep in mind how high or low you want the pieces to hang and cut the wire to that length plus some more. You can always cut out what isn't needed.

Making Your Centerpiece

Step 3.jpg

I used an old garden light and a large metal tube with wire suspending a small washer inside to make more noise as my centerpiece. I used wire as well as hot glue to secure and wrap the light. Later, I add the long tube by snaking wire through a hole in the light and wrapping the wire around what I am using to hang the wind chime.

Adding the Finished Metal Pieces

Step 4 (1).jpg

Once you know where you are going to be putting things, the next step is actually adding them to your windchime. Be creative with this step and keep in mind balancing the whole thing.

Hang It Up!
