Dipped Mason Jars

Just like everyone, I'm obsessed with mason jars. Here's a way to jazz up the mason jars that are laying around your house. I think these turned out awesome, and definitely have alot of customizable options. The best part is that it's really easy and can be done with inexpensive materials! Here's what you'll need:

• Mason Jars
• Acrylic Paint
• Thick Gauge Wire
• Chalkboard Paper
• Glue Gun
• Pliers
• Wire Cutters

As with most of my DIYs, the materials can mostly be found at the dollar store or around your house!

Squeeze a bunch of your paint into the mason jar. Then, simply rotate the jar to cover the bottom half. Make sure to do this VERY slowly and patiently so that you can get a straight even line across the jar.

Once you're happy with how your jar looks, let it dry.

Measure and cut a piece of wire that is longer than the circumference of the jar. Then wrap the wire under the lip of the jar tightly. Twist the wire together to secure it, and then use the pliers to clamp down on the loops.
Cut off any excess wire.

Cut a new piece of wire, this will be the handle. The length depends on how long you want the handle to be.

Hook the handle wire under the wire that was just wrapped around the jar. Once again, create loops and tighten them with the pliers. Cut off any excess wire.

This is optional but I think it adds a cute touch. I got some inexpensive chalkboard paper and cut it into a decorative shape. I cut the a larger version of the same shape on some brown paper. After glueing the two shapes together, I simply hotglued the label to the front of the jar.

This is the most satisfying step! Finish off your jar by writing on it with chalk. Excuse my handwriting, I guess I'm not cut out to be a calligrapher.

And you're done! They look pretty great, don't they?

I think these look awesome in multiples. As you can see in the pictures above, I made three different coloured ones, and labelled them for utensils. A great way to organize cutlery at barbecues, parties, or get-togethers.
