Desk Organizer Idea

Organizer Full View.jpg

I would often find myself having to put my items on the floor or stacked up on each other when I am on my desk. As a student, it would leave me unorganized and having to look through all of my stuff to find certain things, especially my work. Ultimately, I came up with a hanging desk organizer to utilize all of the extra space.

This Instructable will go through my process of designing that specific desk organizer.

Supplies

Autodesk Fushion 360

Information is gathered about different types of desk organizers in order to explore multiple opportunities, resulting in one solution.

From desk organizers, it varies from storage for instruments to more desk space. However, they still tend to take up space.

Inspiration

I wanted to have my desk organizer based on ones that are hanging from the desk with a material that screamed office space. In the images provided, you can see the type of metal material style I wanted, as well as where the organizer would be located, under the desk. I wanted that type of material because I did not want something that is hanging off my desk to weigh a lot and look bulky, resulting into a wire mesh.

Features

A desk organizer should be used to storage materials and items and be convenient to the consumer. Below is a list of what I included in my design.

  • Three compartments to store instruments such as pencils, pens, scissors, erasers, highlighters, etc.
  • Four compartments to store notebooks, paper, folders, etc.
  • Two flat spaces on the top to hang the organizer onto the desk (long in order to keep it balanced and not fall or tilt)

Construction and Dimensions

In the images, you can see the design split in order to see inside, what is given, and the dimensions. The organizer is very spacious to provide storage for work or school. From the dimensions:

  • Bottom = Length: 4 Inches / Width: 4 Inches / Height: 6 Inches
  • Hook = Length: 5 Inches / Width: 1 Inch / Height: 1 Inch

You can see and imagine how big the organizer actually is. However, different sizes varies in ratios.

Conclusion

I wish this product would satisfy those who want more space in their workspace. Considering that the organizer is going to be hanging from the side and under the desk, instead of on, is convenient. I would love to see this product in use by multiple consumers!
