Desert Habitat Living Space

This is a desert habitat, designed to be self sufficient in allowing you to live, and grow your own small garden inside a desert. It is built to survive harsh winds, sand and dust storms. As well, this living space is meant to negate the challenges of the desert like lack of water by cloud seeding.

Supplies

You will need a large tarp, potting soil, 2 hollow grain silos, a module home, 9 18’ x 9’ solar panels, satellite dish (optional), metal pipes (use own discretion in size), a large tarp, enough soil for a 100 x 50 foot area, and silver iodide or potassium iodide.

Setting Up Camp

Start by picking a spot in a desert that is low lying and that is not situated on dunes. Clear away shrubs and debris, lay a concrete foundation, and construct the module home.

Next, attach grain silos to the pipes system of your mobile home, these will serve as water barrels in later stages of your time in the desert.

Now, dig a pit that is 4’ deep beside the house and fill the pit with soil. During this step, feel free to plant the food seed of your choice. While doing this, keep in mind the water consumption of said plant. After this, place the tarp around the soiled area. Place metal pipes/poles within the tarp to make the tarp stand up at your height.

Growing Food

Each day, water the plants with water collected in the silos. If needed, seed the clouds with silver iodide or potassium iodide to produce more rainfall. Each night, make a fire and burn stones. Then use a mechanism to place the hot stones inside the tarped area. These stones will provide heat for the area. If you want, you could also use eclectic heaters attached to the solar panels. But, keep in mind your limits when it comes to electricity.

Final Thoughts and Tips

Keep in mind that food will take some time to grow, and will only produce a set amount in your area. Make sure to bring enough food to make it through the first growing season. After the first growing season is complete, ration food throughout the year until a new yield is fully grown.
