Density of Liquids and Materials
The mass or density of the liquid depends on its nature.

The density of a material is for the liquid, the ratio of the density compared to that of water (at 4 ° C).
Test With Density of Liquids
In this first experience with liquids in order from bottom to top :
- honey 1 360 kg / m3
- Sugar Syrup 1 320 kg / m3
- Dishwashing Liquid 1 120 kg / m3
- Water 1 000 kg / m3
- Edible oil 920 kg / m3
In the second experience with liquids in order from bottom to top :
- Sugar Syrup 1 320 kg / m3
- Liquid for cutting metal 1 200 kg / m3
- Dishwashing Liquid 1 120 kg / m3
- Milk 1 030 kg / m3
- Water colored 1 000 kg / m3
- Edible oil 920 kg / m3
- Lamp Oil 850 kg / m3
If the density is low, the liquid will float.
If the density is higher, the liquid will flow.
This is why the petrol floats on water when there is a black tide.
Test With Density of Materials in Liquids
In this third experience with materials in the liquids in order from bottom to top :
- screw 7 500 kg / m3
- Corn 1 300 kg / m3
- ABS plastic 1 250 kg / m3
- PE-HD plastic 950 kg / m3
- PP plastique 860 kg / m3
If you use a 3D printer this experience is certainly very intersente for you.
It will let you visualized that the materials you will use will change the final weight of your object .
If you use a material in a liquid it can float or sink depending on the liquid and material used .
This is also why you will have more filament with PP (polypropylene) that in the ABS coil.
Cocktails Storey
You can also create cocktails storey for example (bottom to top):
- Grenadine syrup
- Orange juice
- Colored water
- Alcohol
Pretty cool ! Is not it?
I hope you enjoyed this instructable.
