Delicious Butter Cookies

Cookies: (This recipe will make about 3 dozen cookies!!!)
- 1 cup of Land O Lakes Butter, softened
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons of orange juice
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
Frosting (optional):
- 4 cups of powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup of Land O Lake Butter, softened
- 3 to 4 tablespoons of milk
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla
Materials:
- a large mixing bowl
- measuring spoons
- a measuring cup
- refrigerator
- cookie sheets
- (preferably 3-inch) cookie cutters
Combining Ingredients
Combine 1 cup of butter, 1 cup of sugar, and 1 egg in a large mixer bowl. Beat it at medium speed until it gets creamy.
Adding Leftover Ingredients
Reduce speed to low; add the 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons of orange juice, 1 tablespoon of vanilla, and 1 teaspoon of baking powder. Beat until it is well mixed.
Dough
Divide dough into thirds, then wrap all three pieces of dough in a plastic food wrap.
Refrigerate
Refrigerate until the dough is firm (2 to 3 hours).
Oven
Heat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Cookie Cutters
On a lightly floured surface roll out dough, one-third at a time (keeping remaining dough refrigerated), to 1/8 to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut the dough with 3-inch cookie cutters. Place the pieces of dough 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake Them
Bake for 6 to 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. When they are out, set them down somewhere so they can cool completely.
Frosting (Optional)
In small mixer bowl, combine all frosting ingredients. Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until fluffy, which will take about 1 to 2 minutes. If desired, color frosting. Frost and decorate cookies.
