Decorative Solar Lamp Display

Summer is just around the corner and I thought it might be nice to use the lights to create a decorative display that would add night light next to a garden bench, allowing me to sit outside on balmy evenings. You can use any solar light that will fit on top of a 69 x 69mm block of pine, or even drill a hole in the top to mount stake-type solar lights. You will find 69 x 69mm pine at your local hardware store or timber merchant.

A length of 69 x 69mm pine was cut into lengths of different heights to make the staggered display stand. This design is also quite sturdy and you won't have to worry about it falling over.

The pine blocks were glued together using contact adhesive. I did all the glueing outdoors.

Where you are joining together two blocks, apply glue to both surfaces to be joined. Use a scrap of wood or something similar to spread the glue over the surface and leave for 5 minutes.

Once all the blocks are joined apply two to three light coats of Rust-Oleum MultiColor Textured spray. This gives the wood a stone effect. Allow each coat to dry before spraying on the next coat.

Use contact adhesive to secure your solar lights on top of the blocks. They don't provide a lot of light, but they do provide just enough to sit outside and take in the evening air.
