Decorating Eggs

Have you ever tried decorating eggs on Easter, but couldn't find a way to do it simply? Well, this instructable is SUPER simple, and all you need is an egg(s), 20 drops of food coloring, a tablespoon of vinegar, 1/2 cup of water, and a light colored crayon.

This is pretty simple, boil eggs. However many eggs you want, stick them in a pot and boil them. If you don't know how to boil eggs, look it up on the internet. They are super easy to make.

For this step, take a light colored crayon (preferably white) and draw designs on your egg. It can be whatever you want, and however you want to decorate it. What you draw here will result in the final design for your egg, so make it nice!

In a small bowl, add twenty drops of food coloring, along with 1 tablespoon of vinegar. Next, you want to add a 1/2 of boiling water. This is your dye. Repeat the steps above to make different colors. Experiment with the colors. Mix red and blue to get purple, red and yellow to get orange, and more. If necessary, you can add a bit more water if you want to submerge the whole egg in dye. That is why I would prefer a smaller bowl, so that dipping is easier. Once you have your dye created, gently dip your eggs in the mixture. The longer you keep the eggs in the dye, the darker the color will be. Once the egg has reached the desired color, remove it from the cup and set it on a paper towel using a spoon. Let the egg dry, and when it's done, set it out for decoration or eat it whenever you want to (and yes, you can eat the eggs!).

End result: the egg will have your colored background, except for the crayon design, which will stay white. It is really cool, and works great as a family project. Note: for a multi-colored egg, dip half of the egg in one color of dye and the other in another color of dye.
