Dart Frogs
This project is a follow up from the following instructable project:

Be sure to go check it out to see how to fold the origami frog!
Introduction :
Do you like skill games and competition? Then this game is for you! Throw your 4 frogs into the holes to collect points! Taking turns and destabilizing your opponents is of course allowed! The first one to win 700 points wins!
Be careful however with the errors, they are likely to cost you expensive!
Number of players: 2 or more
Difficulty of construction: medium (requires adult assistance at certain stages)
Recommended age: 5-90+ years old
Rules:
- Each player has 4 frogs on each turn. The objective is to make his frogs jump one by one in the targets in order to win a maximum of points!
- For a frog toss to be valid, the frog must be shot from a distance of at least 30 cm from the cardboard! The jump line can be marked by the participants with tape for example.
- When the frog crosses a target, the player wins (or loses) the number of points written on the target.
- If a frog does not fall into one of the targets, the player must automatically pass his turn and his opponent can then play. (If any points were scored in the round, they are not lost by the player who threw the frog the wrong way.)
- The first player to reach a total of 700 points wins the game!
- A player also has the possibility to make his opponent lose points at any time by announcing the target he his aming with his frog (in case there are 3 or more players, the player must also announce to whom he wants to suppress points).
- If the frog actually hits the target, the opposing player loses the number of points written on the target.
- If the frog does not fall into the target, there are two cases :
- The frog did not fall into any target:
- The player who threw the frog loses the number of points that his opponent should have lost. He permanently loses one throwing frog and must immediately pass his turn.
- The frog fell into another target :
- The player who threw the frog loses the number of points scored on the target the frog fell into in addition to the number of points his opponent should have lost. However, the player can play again if there are frogs left to throw.
Supplies
- Colored paper (suggested colors: red, yellow and blue)
- Classic A4 paper
- 1 pair of scissors
- 1 cutter (or sharp knife)
- 1 compass
- 1 graduated ruler
- 1 thick black indelible marker (optional)
- 1 black pen (or other writing medium)
- 1 flat cardboard (minimum size 80x40cm)
- Glue stick
- 1 roll of tape (transparent or other)
Cardboard Folding
Materials required :
- Cardboard 80x40cm
- Graduated ruler
- Scotch
Manipulations :
- Take your cardboard presented in "landscape" format and fold it twice, 20 cm and 30 cm from each edge lengthwise:
Side note:
If your cardboard is bigger, don't panic! Just make sure that the central zone is wide enough (minimum 30 cm) and that the side zones are not the same length (the difference in length between the two zones will have an impact on the final inclination of your cardboard).
- Once the cardboard is folded, join the two ends of the cardboard to form your target and tape them together.
Once this is done, leave the cardboard aside for step #3 and proceed to the next step.
Little Targets Preparation
Materials required :
- Colored paper sheets
- Classic white A4 sheet
- Black pen
- Graduated ruler
- Scissors
- Compass
- Glue stick
Manipulations :
- Draw with a compass the outline of the targets on each colored cardboard paper :
Dimensions of the targets:
Central target (red)
- Inner circle diameter: 7 cm (compass distance: 3.5cm)
- Outer circle diameter: 10 cm (compass distance: 5cm)
Side targets (yellow) :
- Inner circle diameter: 9 cm (compass distance: 4.5cm)
- Outer circle diameter: 12 cm (compass distance: 6cm)
Malus targets (blue) :
- Inner circle diameter: 7 cm (compass distance: 3.5cm)
- Outer circle diameter: 10 cm (compass distance: 5cm)
Number of targets to trace :
- Red : 1 target
- Yellow: 4 targets
- Blue: 4 targets
Tip: To make tracing easier, indicate the center of your target with a pencil point. This way, when you draw the circles, they will both have the same center.
Side Note:
The dimensions and number of targets in this tutorial are optional, but make sure the ones you choose match the size of your cardboard so that the targets do not overflow! In addition, the dimensions of the red and blue targets are the minimum dimensions to ensure the frog's passage (smaller and there is a risk of blockage).
- Precisely cut out with scissors each target drawn during the previous manipulation:
Be careful this manipulation can be delicate for small children.
- Once the 9 targets have been cut, set them aside for the end of the next manipulation.
- Draw the contours of the 9 target labels with a pen on a standard A4 sheet of paper and then cut them out with scissors.
Dimensions of the labels: 2x2cm
Once cut, simply write down the desired number of points on each target and glue the labels to the targets using the glue stick.
Suggested points per target :
Red : +100
Yellow: +50
Blue: -50
Note : Here again, the points proposed in this tutorial can be modified as you wish! Just remember to change the rules accordingly!
Final Target Preparation
Materials required :
- Cutter
- Thick black indelible pen
- Glue stick
Manipulations
- Glue the targets created in step 2 on the main outside face of the cardboard prepared in step 1.
Side Note:
The little targets created in step 2 must just be glued to the main outer face of the cardboard prepared in step 1 but feel free to place the targets wherever you want on the cardboard! It should be fun first!
- Cut the holes in the cardboard using the cutter to allow the frog to pass through the targets.
WARNING: This step is very delicate and adult supervision is highly recommended for young children!
- Decorate the target according to your desires of the moment! Customize it as you wish and have fun!
However, we offer you a quick customization thanks to a thick black indelible pen that allows you to color the cardboard and make the targets stand out wonderfully well!
After that, well it's finished!
Congratulations you have succeeded! Now all you have to do is have fun with your family and friends!
BONUS:
You can also customize your frogs as you like! For example transforming it into a mini dart target as proposed in this tutorial!
