Dandelion in Resin Sphere & Mold
How to make a Magic Dandelion In Resin pendant and earrings. Learn how to make a resin sphere mold and resin sphere jewelry. Simple way to preserve real flower in resin.
Making the Mold:
Prepare a shere for mold making, the size you need, I used big ball bearing balls.
Start by cutting a piece of pipe that is larger than the sphere you will use. I used shrinking tube because it fitted my project. Next, use a hot glue gun to add a piece of aluminum foil on the bottom of the pipe. Also use the hot glue gun to glue a small piece of plastic in the middle of the pipe. Pour some silicone mold making rubber on the bottom of the pipe, about 3mm thick and let it dry. When the silicone has dried remove the plastic piece from the middle of the pipe. Put the sphere in the middle of the pipe covering the hole. Pour silicone mold making rubber until the sphere is covered. Make sure that the sphere does not move when pouring the silicone. After the silicone has dried remove the sphere and the mold is ready.
Resin Sphere:
Prepare the dandelion you want to use for the project, make sure it is dry, moisture can ruin the project.
Mix some clear epoxy resin and pour it into the mold. Gently insert the dandelion. Let the resin cure.
Final Step:
Remove the resin sphere from the mold and use a Dremel tool to sand the excess part.
Make sure you do not touch the sphere with the sanding tool, it is very hard to fix a scratch.Use 1mm drill bit to make a small hole in the sphere for the sphere holder piece. Pour a small amount of resin and insert the sphere holder piece. Let the resin cure. Now you can attach the chain for pendant or earrings hooks.
Done!
