Dairy-Free Dalgona Coffee
Have you seen that fancy whipped coffee that took over the internet during lockdown?
The good news is that it's easy to make at home, and tastes delicious!
It only takes about 5 minutes, and uses minimal ingredients!
Supplies
Mixing bowl
Electric hand-mixer or whisk
Cup that holds 8-16 oz
Spoon for scooping up the fluff!
Straw for drinking! (Please use a reusable one, they're better for the planet!)
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons instant coffee
2 tablespoons coconut sugar (or stevia or cane sugar!)
2 tablespoons hot water
Equal parts dairy-free milk and creamer. I recommend 1/2 cup of each
Optional: ice cubes
AUTHOR NOTES:
To make more than one drink, feel free to use 1/4 cup of coffee, sugar, and water.
For a sweeter drink, add a drop of vanilla or dash of cinnamon to your fluff mixture before mixing!
Gather Ingredients and Supplies
Make sure you have all the ingredients and supplies needed to make this recipe.
You can use a whisk instead of a hand mixer, but it will take longer to make the fluff!
You do not have to use coconut sugar like I did. You can use regular cane sugar, or stevia instead.
Measure Fluff Ingredients
Measure out the coffee, sugar, and hot water.
Measure Milky Ingredients
Measure out the milk and creamer in equal parts.
I had a 16 oz cup, so I used 1/2 cup of almond milk and 1/2 cup of creamer.
Get Your Glass Ready
Get your glass, and fill it with the milk and creamer!
Add ice if you like!
Set aside for now in the fridge or freezer. Be sure to keep the glass in an upright position, so it doesn't spill.
Add Stuff to Make Fluff
Grab your mixing bowl!
Put the instant coffee, sugar, and hot water in the mixing bowl.
Mix Until Fluffy!
Using your hand-mixer, begin mixing at a low speed, gradually increasing speed with time.
If you don't have a hand-mixer, or don't know how to safely use one, please use a whisk and whisk by hand!
The coffee mixture will turn light brown and be a fluffy consistency when it is done.
If using an electric mixer, the fluff will take about 5-10 minutes to make.
If mixing with a whisk by hand, it will take about 15-30 minutes to make.
Check for Peaks
You will know it is done when you stop the mixer/whisk and the fluff forms a peak off the bottom, like in the above photo.
Top the Milk With the Fluff
Using a spoon, add the fluffy coffee mixture onto the top of the milky mixture.
(Optional) Mix Coffee If Desired
You may choose to mix the layers together with a spoon or straw once the steps are completed.
If using a straw, please use a reusable one!!
Enjoy!
Take a picture if you want! This coffee looks so beautiful with separate layers!
Then drink up and enjoy!
