Daddy's Pie
Who doesn't like a nice spaghetti bolognese?
My kids weren't really interested in trying new things until I had the idea to change it up a little. I got them involved and now its a regular thing.
Hope you enjoy.
Supplies
500g mince (lamb/beef/pork/turkey)
Bolognese sauce (home made or shop bought depending on how adventurous you are)
Cake tin
Pasta (kids lo
Prepare the Mince
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius.
Fill a pan with cold water and heat it up.
Wait until the water in the pan is bubbling. Add a couple of pinches of salt and a 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil to the water. Give it a stir.
Time to get your hands messy! I used 500g of fresh lean lambs mince but this will also work with beef/pork.
You need to line the cake tin with the mince, spread it out evenly. along the base and sides, try and get the mince to cover as much as the tin as possible.
Add the pasta to the simmering water and give it another stir. Continue to stir occasionally until the pasta is thoroughly cooked. Drain the water from the pasta.
Cook the Mince
Put the pasta back into the pan and put the pan back onto the heat. Add your sauce, give the pasta a stir quickly to ensure that the sauce covers the pasta thoroughly and doesn't stick to the pan.
Now its time to add the cooked pasta to the cake tin, try and spread it out.
Place the cake tin on the middle shelf of the oven and set a timer for 30 mins.
It's Cooked!
Now its time to remove the sides of your cake tin (if you can), be careful because the fat from the mince will be hot and could potentially burn you.
I allowed mine to cool for a few minutes first.
Dish It Up
Slice the "pie" to portions and dish it up.
Any leftovers can be kept in a Tupperware box and stored in the fridge for a maximum 24 hours. Probably could keep longer but it's up to your judgement.
The Next Day
Add 2 teaspoons of water to a frying pan and turn up the heat. Add the leftover food from the previous day and make sure that its cooked thoroughly before dishing up.
