DYI Comfy Upcycled Plastic Bottle Stool
Got any spare plastic bottles cluttering your house? If not I’m sure you know someone or someplace who does store them. Instead of throwing items away, why not put them to good use! Today we will turn unwanted trash into a stylish stool.
Supplies
- 19 plastic bottles
- Duct tape
- Hard cardboard
- String
- UHU liquid glue
- Fabric
- Staple gun
- Scissors Foam or old pillow (40x40cm)
First, arrange 19 plastic bottles. Take 3 of them and secure them in place with duct tape. Add 4 more to create a sturdy circle and stick them together with duct tape.
Once you have a core of 7 bottles, grab 6 more and attach each of them to the sides with duct tape. This time the trick is to attach them upside down and one by one. The first one needs to be attached to the core on both sides. The second one taped on one side to the core and on the opposite side to the first placed upside-down bottle. Continue the same process with the remaining 4 bottles.
As you can see, we have just created 6 spots where you can easily push 6 remaining bottles. This time, once again let’s do it upright. If you are lost please have a look at the photos below.
Once we are done with connecting 19 bottles together, we have to make sure they won’t fall apart. Take a roll of duct tape and strengthen our bottles’ construction by wrapping it all around. To make our stool even more durable, repeat the process with a string.
The next step is to mark the size of the circular stool on the cardboard. We will need two pieces to place them on top and the bottom. Once you have done it, cut it out of the cardboard.
To make our stool comfier, we will use a piece of foam as a cushion. Take one round cardboard and mark its size on the foam. Then cut it out.
Now we will glue the round cardboards to the bottle core. Once the top and the bottom are attached to the bottles we will strengthen it with duct tape.
It’s time to pour UHU liquid glue on top cardboard so we can attach it together with foam.
We are nearly done. Let’s decorate our stool. To do so we need to grab some fabric and a staple gun. Place a stool upside down (with a cushion at the bottom) in the central part of the fabric. Wrap the stool with the fabric. If need be, trim off any excess and don't cut too much though as we need to cover it equally.
Then we will use a staple gun to attach the material to the cardboard. First staple the two opposite ends together, then continue with the sides. Don’t forget to tug on the material to ensure a tight and equal fit. Make sure that the material is stapled neatly. At the end trim off any excess material and use a UHU liquid glue to ensure that the bottom part stays durable.
READY!
