DTC (Dark Trooper Carrier) Droid Dropship

Design

The DTC Droid Dropship was inspired by the sleek designs of the Scythe, CX Dagger vessel, Kylo Ren's command shuttle, HMP Droid Gunship, and from Boeing’s X-32.

The ship is equipped with 2 top-mounted flood lights, 2 bottom-mounted missiles, a quad bar light sensor at the front, dual ion engines at the rear, 2 laser cannons at the tips of the wings, and a bottom cargo area to mount up to 5 Dark Troopers.

The main hull was designed using the form workspace in Fusion 360, and the wings and other auxiliary components were designed in the 2d sketch workspace. All components were then combined together, and seamlessly integrated with fillets at the intersecting seams. Panel lines on the main hull were challenging to integrate as the body is curved in nature, and I simply lack the skillset to add that amount of detail. The panel lining on the whole ship was difficult to get right to look and feel like a Star Wars ship, but with a lot of reference materials, I think it turned out half-decent. 

Canonical Usage

Designed by the Galactic Empire, the DTC Droid Dropship can be equipped with 5 Dark Troopers to be deployed anywhere in the galaxy to work alongside the inquisitors in dealing with the Jedi. However, the bottom bay can also be reconfigured to house other droids, bombs, or resources as needed by the Empire.

Much like the Separatist’s HMP Droid Gunship that could be commanded by the T-series tactical droid, the DTC Droid Dropship can work in conjunction with other droids like the Dark Troopers, Viper Probe Droids, and even other DTC Droid Dropships to communicate and locate the Jedi. This superior communication method means that the inquisitors can focus on finding and killing the Jedi instead of constantly having to tell the droids what to do. 

The removal of human pilots in favor of a droid dropship also means no training time for pilots, the removal of human error, and the ability for better sensors than what biological eyes can accomplish.

The top-mounted floodlights can light up a large area at night to better spot any hiding Jedi or ships, and the 2 laser cannons and 4 rockets can be used in aerial combat or ground support.
