DSI2598+’S NB-IOT APPLICATION-THE PARTICLE MEASURING SYSTEM

“DSI2598+”, the third version board of 2598, is a fresh NB-IoT evaluation board with a new technology in the field of IoT application, which can straightly connect network by its SIM card through several telecom providers.

Additionally, the board possesses all the necessary pins, enough memory space, high speed, and a light size. Certainly, it also supports Arduino, so Arduino libraries and modules can be easily integrated.

Would you like to know more about this amazing new product? The video may show all detailed information, and you will know to use it to make a particle measuring system.

Know the Difference Between NB-IoT and WiFi :

1. WiFi allows you to connect to the Internet through wireless base stations, while NB-IoT uses telecom providers’ base stations for the connection. With numerous base stations , NB-IoT’s coverage can be broader, nearly no blind spots.

2. WiFi is mostly used for big data transmission with large amount, while NB-IoT is suitable for low data transmission with small amount.

It’s the third version of 2598. Compared with the second version, the lack of memory space problem has been solved, and the speed has increased significantly.

#Supports Arduino: Arduino libraries and modules can be easily integrated with this board.

#Small size: It can be directly applied to some products.

#As many pins: It supports PWM, I²C, SPI, ADC, UART and other pins.

Know Its Structure:

This board has three different hardware serial ports - 0、1、2.

The board itself uses serial 1 to communicate with STM32 and BPC26, and through micro USB, serial 0 can be used for the programming by using Arduino. Since it also comes with serial 2, you can take it for other design purposes.

It’s quite common to use Particle Measuring System in factories. Mostly we measure particles by handling a tool or just using a fixed machine, so we will have to take the particle measuring device to anywhere in the factory to collect data.

Now, using a cutting-edge technology called MQTT, I can let the collector connected to NB-IoT, and it could send the measured data immediately to the back-end computer.

Build Them Up !

I use a NB-IoT board to connect a screen like SSD1306 and the PMS5003T particle measuring sensor. Also, I have a circuit board that supports the charging of lithium battery. For this example, I use a 18650 lithium battery, and SSD 1306 will show the related data.

One of NB-IoT’s features is that it is suitable for low data transmission, so I set the system to send data back every 30 minutes. And after its finishing sending data, the NB-IoT chip would turn to sleep mode, even making the system’s fan stop to make the power consumption lower. By doing so, we can use this particle measuring system for several days without charging.

See the The MQTT Digital Dashboard

The MQTT digital dashboard includes a tool called Node-RED that is quite common at the back end. There are also interfaces for tablets and cellphones, which means I can receive some information through the tablet, and the cellphone can directly show the data as well. As a result, related personnel or the manager can know every point’s situation at once, and take some correspondent action. All in all, the NB-IoT mechanism like this is a very useful application. We can use it for particle measuring in the factory.
