Hello, friends! I will teach you how to make a zippered pen case made out of leather. I've been crafting leather items for a while now. This is one of best projects I've done so far. I thought I'd like to share it with you.

While I was making this, I just realized that pencils won't fit - just my pens. I will make a longer case next time.

Supplies

◘ YKK Zipper

Pattern

◘ White pencil or pen for tracing

◘ Leather - I encourage to buy veg tan leather for a sturdy case. But here, I used a soft cowhide leather with PU leather as lining. It's the only one available for me at the moment.

◘ Cement Glue

◘ Blade (Rotary Cutter, X-acto Knife)

◘ Small Binders

◘ Diamond Chisel Hole Punch

◘ Hammer

◘ 2 sewing needles for leather

◘ Wax Thread

Cut Out Pattern

Draw out the pattern in a cardboard and cut it out.

Trace the cardboard pattern using a white pencil or pen on top of the leather. If you use white pen, make sure to erase the tracing right away to avoid permanent markings.

Cut the leather.

Adding the Zipper

Turn the leather backwards. Place the zipper in the middle and stick both sides of the leather onto the zipper with cement glue. Use binder clips to hold the dipper in place. Wait for it to dry for an hour or less.

Make the Holes

Rip apart the zipper. Hammer holes with the diamond chisel and sew. Check this tutorial out on how to sew leather.

Finishing It Up

Attach the zipper handle. For the sides of the case, apply cement glue, let it dry and sew as shown in the pictures.

Notes:

Sewing the sides is optional. I had a tough time doing it. Applying cement glue is suffice to hold it together. I just thought that sewing will make it stronger. You can challenge yourself into sewing if you want to.
