DIY Wooden Computer Stand
In this blog, I’ll walk you through how to make a sleek, ergonomic computer and i-pad stand using laser-cut plywood. This DIY project combines modern design with practicality, elevating your laptop or monitor to a comfortable height while adding a touch of custom wood art to your workspace.
Supplies
Materials:
- 5mm thickness plywood * 2 (50*50cm)
- Wood glue
- Sandpaper (optional, for smoothing edges)
Equipment:
- 20W NEJE Laser Cutter
- Software: Lightburn
Upload the File
The stand consists of interlocking plywood pieces that form a stable, elevated platform to keep your device cool. If you want to adjust the size or add custom engravings (like patterns or logos), modify the file to suit your preferences. Ensure the design fits within a 500*500mm work area for cutting.
Laser Settings:
- Speed: 300mm/min
- Power: 95%
- Air Assist: On
Double-check the alignment to avoid material waste, and start the cutting process.

Laser Cutting
Adjust the file to align with the material. If your machine can not cut all parts in one passa 500*400mm work area, split the file into multiple passes.
Assembly
Once cutting is complete, remove the plywood pieces from the laser cutter. Lightly sand the edges with sandpaper if needed for a smooth finish. Assemble the computer stand by slotting the side supports into the base, ensuring a snug fit. Then, attach the top side to the side supports.
