DIY Wood Resin Bookmark

Any intact wood piece to breakoff works!

To get the natural wood to resin transition effect, it is important to break off a piece of wood so that you can pour the resin into the natural breakoff of the wood.

You do not need a silicon mold! For a simple rectangular resin pour like this I just cut out a clear plastic binder cover and folded it to shape, then hotglued onto the wood!

I have linked the dye and epoxy mix in the introduction! It is equal parts for both epoxy bottles. I used a combination of blue colors and green, but this is really where you can experiment and try out cool colors!

I could have done this with a handsaw so do not worry if you do not have a machine! It just takes a little more elbow grease and arm work. You can cut out whatever bookmark size you prefer but mine was about 3 inches by 0.5 inches by 0.1 inches!

This is where patience is really needed! I first used rough sandpaper 200 - 600 to bring out the defined shaped of my bookmark, then began polishing it with 1000 - 10000 grit polishing wet sandpaper. Water really helps in this case! Then I finished the bookmark with some wood oil.

This is a relatively easy project, but it just takes some time and patience to do. It really does make an aesthetic and expensive-looking bookmark, and it makes as a great gift!
