DIY Two-Tone Half Bleached Jeans
Denim transformations are some of my favorite projects to tackle because there are so many different things you can do to revamp an old, boring pair of jeans. This two-tone, half bleached stye has been trending lately, especially with the youngsters on TikTok, and I just love the look. Here's how to transform a basic pair of denim jeans into these stylish two tone bleached jeans with just a few simple materials!
Supplies
- Pair of jeans (darker wash is best)
- Garbage bags (or something else to place your jeans on)
- Smaller bag for other pant leg
- Tape
- Gloves
- Bleach
- Spray bottle (for the bleach)
- Mask and goggles/glasses for extra protection
- *Please work outside or in a very well ventilated area!
Gather Materials
What you'll need:
- Pair of jeans (darker wash is best)
- Garbage bags (or something else to place your jeans on)
- Smaller bag for other pant leg
- Tape
- Gloves
- Bleach
- Spray bottle (for the bleach)
- Mask and goggles/glasses for extra protection
*Please work outside or in a very well ventilated area!
Bag & Tape One Leg
Put one pant leg into a plastic bag and tape it securely so no bleach gets on that leg.
Apply First Bleach Layer
Pour bleach into your spray bottle and generously spray the entire cover of the front of the jeans leg. Then leave it to sit for 3-4 hours or so. Be sure to wear gloves and a mask or bandana, and apply the bleach outdoors/in a well ventilated area!
After 3-4 hours, flip the jeans over and spray the other side of the jeans leg with bleach. Leave to set for another 3-4 hours.
Apply Second Bleach Layer
The pair of jeans I used were still a bit blotchy and spotty after the first layer of bleach. If you prefer this look, you're all done and ready to wash, dry and wear! However, if you want a more even color like I did, repeat step 3 and apply a second layer of bleach to both sides. Let each side set for 3-4 hours. You will see a big difference!
Rinse, Wash & Dry
Once the second round has had a chance to set, rinse them in a bathtub or sink to remove the excess bleach. Then wash and dry per usual.
All Done!
What a transformation! A spray bottle and some bleach can really go a long way. Thank you for checking out this tutorial and I'd love to hear from you if you try it out!
