BUILDING FRAME OF MACHINE
Building the frame for a CNC plotter using 20x20 aluminum extrusion profiles and 8mm smooth rod rubber rollers requires careful planning and execution. Here are the steps to help you create a sturdy and reliable frame for your CNC plotter:
Begin by creating a detailed design for your CNC plotter frame. Determine the size and layout of the frame, considering the dimensions of your work area, the desired stability, and any specific requirements for your project.
Measure and cut the aluminum extrusion profiles according to your design. Ensure the cuts are precise and square to create a stable frame. A miter saw or a hacksaw with a miter box is suitable for this task.
Lay out the cut extrusion profiles to create the base of your CNC plotter. Use corner brackets and T-nuts to secure the profiles together, ensuring they are square and level. This base will serve as the foundation for the rest of the frame.
Determine the locations for your linear motion smooth rods and install them. You may need additional brackets to support and secure the smooth rods along the frame. Ensure they are level and parallel to each other.
Attach the rubber rollers to the frame, aligning them with the smooth rods. These rollers will provide support and guidance for the motion of the CNC plotter. Make sure they are properly spaced and adjusted for smooth movement.
To enhance the stability of the frame, install cross braces between the extrusion profiles. These braces will help prevent any unwanted flexing or wobbling during operation.

LASER AXIS SETUP
- 3D Printed Bracket for Linear Slider Rail:
- I've designed and 3D printed a custom bracket to securely hold the linear slider rail in place. This bracket ensures stability and precision in the movement of the CNC machine.
- Linear Slider Installed on the CNC Frame:
- The linear slider is now installed on the front-top part of the CNC frame. This strategic placement provides smooth and controlled motion for the machine, allowing for accurate and repeatable results in various CNC applications.
- Utilizing Flange Bearings for 8mm T-Nut:
- To facilitate effortless movement, I've incorporated two 8mm flange bearings. These bearings allow the 8mm T-nut to rotate freely within the bracket, reducing friction and ensuring a consistent and reliable performance in the CNC setup.
- Then I install the laser diode on the linear slode.
In this way the mechanical construction of CNC machine is completed now it timw to install the electronics parts.
