DIY Switch Adapted Seahorse

This project is designed to adapt the Fisher Price Sooth Glow Seahorse so that it has switch access.

Supplies

Remove Battery Case

Remove battery case from inside the seahorse.

Separate Toy

Separate top from bottom part of toy.


*This is the most difficult part, It is helpful to carefully pry it apart with a flathead screwdriver.

Cut Cable

Cut end of the cable. (We will be using the female end of the cable for this adaption)

Strip the Cable

Strip the cable so that the wires from both the red and white cables are shown.

Solder

Separately solder the ends of the red and white cables.

Add Hole

Melt or drill a hole into the side of the battery pack.

Thread the Cable

Thread the cable through the battery pack so that the soldered red and white wires are on the inside.

Secure Cable

Tie the end of the cable inside the battery pack, or add a zip tie to prevent the wire from being pulled out when being played with.

Add Solder

Add solder to the areas that are marked with the arrows.

Solder

Solder the red and white cables to the areas that were soldered on the battery pack.

Reattach

Reattach the top and bottom of the battery pack.

Reassemble Toy

Place the battery pack into the seahorse.

Enjoy

Attach to switch and enjoy!
