Everybody loves to swing. So wouldn't it be great if you could make your own, portable swing?

This is an instructable for making an original, handy, light-weight and pretty swing. It's easy to make and even easier to use, so lets get started!

To make this swing, you will need:

- rope (I used six packs of rope, that is ten meters long and has a diameter of six mm)

- pulp cane (I used about 500 grams)

- 2 carabiners

- scissors

- tape (optional)

Weaving the Seat

The easiest way to work with pulp cane is when it's wet. So before you start, let the pulp cane soak in water for a few minutes.

Start with 4 strands of 1 meter. cross them in pairs and bind them with another strand. Start adding pairs of pulp cane all of 1 meter lenght. Until you have used 3 pairs on each side.

Take one of the 24 strands and start weaving it over and under the other 23 strands. Continue weaving in rounds until you reach a diameter of approximately 40cm.

Bend the 23 base-strands upwards, and keep weaving the pulp cane around it. By doing this, you should obtain the upstanding edge of approximately 8cm high.

Bend the strands inwards and weave until a hole of approximately 18cm is left.

To finish, bend and weave the remaining pieces back.

Attaching the Rope

Start with pulling the rope trough the side part of the seat and go further all across the bottom and through the side part on the opposite side.

Rank the ropes in two pairs of three, so you should cross the seat six times. Leave 2 crossed ropes untightend to create a handle for transportation.

Try also to obtain pieces of about 30cm on one side of the seat and the rest of the rope on the other side.

Then, braid the pieces rope together so, that you obtain two short braids and two long ones. Tie the ends of the braids, so it won't loosen when you use it.

Carabiners

Attatch the carabiners on the short braids and make a triangle with the long piece.

Enjoy!
