DIY Spider-Man Web Shooters

Spider-Man, without a doubt, is one of the greatest comic book characters of all time. In honor of the Sony and Marvel deal being a success, I have made my own version of the iconic web shooters Tom Holland uses. With my project being inspired by Odin Makes's project and the original web shooter, you get an original creation. Without further or do, DIY Spider-Man Web Shooters.

To make it easier to describe what pieces I'm using at what time, I have numbered all of the templates in the order I used them. Not all people have the same size wrist, so just keep experimenting with the scale until it looks and feels right for you. To make two web shooters, just repeat each step twice.

Using you scissors, cut out template number 1 and template number 2. Next, trace your two paper templates onto foam. You will notice that if you put template 2 on template 1, there will be a piece missing. To fix this problem, I cut out the piece furthest to the right of template 1, traced it on foam, and cut it out. Once you have your three pieces, glue template 2 on top of template 1, adding that extra piece of foam on the right end.

In order to keep the web shooter on your wrist, you will need to attach Velcro. This step is pretty self explanatory, but when you attach your Velcro, make sure the two sides of the Velcro are opposite to each other when they meet.

For this step, you will need to cut and trace templates 3 and 4 on foam. Next, glue template 4 on top of template 3. You will notice that template 1 has a triangle sticking out that can align perfectly with the bottom of template 3. Using your glue, glue template 3 onto that triangle on template 1.

Cut out a piece of your floor mat to fit in the gap between template 2 and the extra piece of template 2. Make sure that this piece can fit directly in between the two pieces, but also leave a gap in between each side of the 5 mm foam. Glue your pen tip to the top of the foam rectangle. Finally glue the whole piece in between the two pieces of template 2 leaving an even gap in between those pieces.

Cut out template 5 and glue it on top and on the sides of the rectangular piece you just made. To make the web filament, cut out two rectangles of 5 mm foam that can fit directly in the space that you left on the top of the rectangle made out of the floor mat. Glue the two rectangles together and cut a notch in the top rectangle. Finally, glue that piece to the top of the rectangle.

Cut out templates 6 and 7 from your 5 mm craft foam. Glue template 6 on top of the left side of template 2, and glue template 7 on to the top of the other piece of template 2.

Mask of the entire inside of the web shooter and the pen nib. It is really important that you cover all of the Velcro with masking tape to ensure that the spray paint doesn't ruin the grip the Velcro already has. Next, spray paint the entire web shooter with black matte spray paint. Once dry, take silver duct tape and place it on the bottom of the web filament. Next take red duct tape and place it on the top of the web filament. Finally, cut out a circle of red tape and put it on top of the trigger's tip.
