DIY Speed Adjustable Cordless Leaf Blower
A few days ago, I completed two projects.
1. How to make a powerful air blower at home.
2. How to make a battery adapter for Makita 12V BL1013.
As long as these two are combined, it becomes a cordless leaf blower.
Supplies
To complete this project, I also need the following items:
- a handle box that can use to connect all parts.
- a DC motor speed controller that can adjust the speed as needed.
- a cover that avoids exposure of the motor and looks good.
- a long pipe to guide the airflow.
- a protective net to avoid accidentally getting caught in clothes or hands.
- a power switch.
The Handle Box
I used MDF and wood to make the main structure, leaving some hollow parts for other parts.
All the parts are glued only on one side of the shell, another with screws.
I hope to disassemble easily for maintenance.
Motor clamp, drill a circle to connect the motor, cut it from the middle, and then lock the screw to clamp.
Painting
Black + Yellow, with blower and battery box.
All parts should paint before being glued.
Electrical Parts
There is a power switch on the top.
A 12x19mm rectangle hole is necessary.
On the right, drill a 7mm diameter hole for the knob to use.
The speed controller PCB is placed inside and does not take up space.
Then it is to solder or connect the wires.
Motor Cover
I want to make the cover look a little better.
The regular hexagon is still a great choice.
There was a 30-degree jig that I was made for the hexagon shelf before, so it comes in handy again.
Then use a router to cut some long holes for the motor to dissipate heat.
The Long Pipe
Turning waste into gold.
I combined with coffee PET bottles, bonded with hot glue and black tape.
Use screws and a piece of ABS board to fix on the handle box
Finish
It's showtime.
I tried to clean the dust and some leaves.
It worked very well.
Maybe my 1st DIY cordless power tool is a success.
Weight: 1247g with battery
Noise: about 70db (maximum 78)
