- Craft foam of whatever color you want the feet to be (the boring choice would be orange)
- Thin ribbon of whatever color you want (the boring choice would be orange)

- Time (don’t we all want more of it)
- Creativity, have fun with it, put your own spin on my instructions. After all, you’re the one making it
Materials that aren’t necessarily needed but could be useful-
- Funnel (or a cup to put the sock over)
- Pictures of turkeys (for inspiration)
- Art/craft skills
- Other funky accessories to decorate your turkey
The Body
Take your sock and fill it up ¾ of the way with rice. This should be around the whole foot of the sock. Then tie the sock off with a rubber band as close as you can get to the rice inside. This will be the body of our turkey.
The Head
Add more rice filling up the heel part of the sock. Now you are going to do the same thing you did in the previous step and tie the sock off with a rubber band. This will be the head of our turkey.
The Beanie
At this point, we have a head and a body for our turkey. Along with remaining sock on top of the head. To fix this weird looking top, you are going to fold the access sock down over the head, making our turkey a little beanie so they don’t get cold.
The Accessories
Now that we have the structure of our turkey, it's time to make them into something other than a strange-looking potato. In order to do this, we need turkey parts. Take the colored foam and cut out feet that are perfect for our little friend. Use the colored felt or paper to cut out a beak. Cut a piece of pipe cleaner that is about 1 - ½” long for our turkey’s wattle.
The Face
With all the parts we need for our little buddy ready, it's time to assemble them. Take the small ribbon and tie it around the neck of our turkey. Glue the amount of googly eyes you want, along with the beak, onto the face area. Take the pipe cleaner you cut and stretch it next to the beak, making the wattle for our turkey.
The Tail
Our little turkey friend is almost complete! How exciting is that? But we can’t stop now, we are missing a very important part of our turkey. THE TAIL!!! Take more of the colored foam and cut out a small oval shape. Glue some or one color of your colored feathers to one side of the foam. Flip it over and glue more or a different colored feather on the other side. Finally, take the foam covered with feathers and glue it to the back side of our turkey. Now they have a tail!
The Customization
At this point, I have exhausted all the instructions I have for you for your physical turkey. Take creative liberties and customize them however you would like. For this part there are no instructions from me, only from your imagination. You could create little arms or a full scene for them to live in, put gems or glitter around, or you could even give our little turkey some beautiful hair. The choice is yours.
The Existential
Great job! You have created our little turkey friend. However, there is more to a turkey than looks and physical formation. Don’t forget to give our turkey a name, gender, or even a little backstory. Be imaginative with it. What’s the point in creating a little friend when they don’t have a purpose or life story?
Enjoy your little turkey friend and if you feel like they are ever getting lonely, you
might want to come back and make another one. The more turkey friends the better.
