DIY Scented Candle

Candle.jpg

Candle making has always been one of my favorite things to do. It is a simple process and there are so many different scent combinations you can create!

Supplies

Candle Making Kit.jpg

Heat-resistant pouring pitcher

Saucepan

Fragrance/Essential Oil(s)

Some sort of jar

Soy wax flakes

Candle Wick

Cooking Thermometer

*Amazon sells "candle making kits" that include everything you need

Melt #1 pound of soy wan in the pitcher over a double boiler set up with the saucepan. Heat to a temperature of 185 degrees Fahrenheit

Once the melted wax has reached the correct temperature, add one ounce of fragrance of your choice (mine was vanilla for this candle)

Remove wax from heat source. While the wax is cooling, place the wick in your empty jar and center it as best as you can. You can use chopsticks or pencils to secure the wick in place.

Once the wax cools to a temperature of about 130 degrees Fahrenheit, carefully pour into the prepared jar.

Let the jars cool for at least six hours. Trim the wicks to 1/4 of an inch.
