DIY Robot Mold Making, Casting, and Arduino Remote Control

Learn how to build your own unique robot with ComposiMold.
Parts List:
ComposiStone (2lbs), Hot glue, Spray adhesive, PureCast605, Elmer’s Glue, Used ComposiMold, ProtoCast85R, Water, Toy Robot, Silicone, Cardboard Box’s, Paint, Colored tissue Paper, Cups, Wires, Delight Paper Clay, Plastic bags/ trash bags, Breadboard, Recordable Card, Controller, Ferrules, Electric Switch, Receiver, Electrical tape, Rubber gloves, Packing tape, LED Lights, Clay, Bubble Buster, Mold Release, Arduino, Stir Sticks, Plates/tray for mixing paint.
The Amount of ComposiMold used for each part of the robot is as follows: Remember, with ComposiMold, you can remelt each mold you make to reuse the material.
• Arms..3.7Lbs each
• Head.. 1Lb
• Legs ….10.4Lbs
• Body…9.3Lbs
Equipment:
Microwave, Hot glue gun, Laptop, Pliers, Scissors, Scale, USB to mini USB, Wire strippers.
Creating the Molds

First build the mold box:
Materials include a cardboard box, plastic bag, and spray adhesive. Spray the box with adhesive then stick the bag to the box.
Next prepare the Part/ limb:
Anchor the limb down with clay, then spray it with bubble buster and mold release.
Melt the ComposiMold in a microwave:
Once melted pour the ComposiMold over the prepped Robot limb. After the mold is poured; the ComposiMold is left to cool to solidify. The limb is removed by cutting and flexing the rubbery mold. The mold is taped up in preparation for the casting material.
Pouring the Casting Materials

Now pour the casting materials: We used various types of casting materials for each of the robots five body parts.
The Robots legs: Casted with ComposiStone.
The Robots head: Casted with PureCast 605 with LED lights embedded in the material.
the Robots Body: Casted with ProtoCast85R.
The Robot Left Arm: Casted with decoupage and delight modeling compound.
The Robots Right arm: Casted with silicone.
Painting the Limbs

Use any paint you like, it is best to start with a primer. We used Acrylic paints on our robot.
Wiring and Coding the Robot

Now wire the Transmitter, Arduino, Speaker, and the LED lights. Check out our wiring diagram above.
Then use and edit an existing Arduino code to fit your project. For our project we used Nick Poole's code found by google search and edited it to meet our Robots needs.
