In this Instructable, a set of pan flutes will be made with hot glue and straws.

Supplies

•Hot glue gun

•Smoothie straws, cut in half (normal plastic straws work too, but either kind has to be plastic.)

•Marker

•Straight Edge

•Scissors

•A surface hot glue doesn't stick to, I used parchment paper, but there are alternatives that work just as well

Gluing Straws' Bases.

Place a circle of hot glue down on the nonstick surface. Make sure the dollop is larger than the base of your plastic straw half. Then, place the straw half onto the glue. Hold it up until it can stand alone. Repeat with all of the straws, and peel off the straw with hot glue off the surface when done.

Trimming Excess Glue

Trim the excess hot glue around the straw. Be careful not to cut the straw, and to maintain a solid seal at the bottom. If you mess up, you can always put down more glue and press down straws again.

Gluing Straws Together

Glue together your straws, staggered by about 1 cm (it might make sense to stagger by more if you have less straws, or less if you have more.).

Cut Straws to Size

Using your straight edge and marker, draw a line that extends straight from the top of your straw that has its point farthest down. (See the first picture if that dosen't make sense.) Then, cut along that line.

Blow and Have Fun!

Now all that's left to do is blow into the holes at the top!
