Need an easy gift idea for kids or even get the kids to try this out with supplies found in your home? How about a pair of bookends with a rainbow made from paper stock? It is super cute, simple and easy to make! I will show you how to make one down below!

Supplies

The supplies that you will be needing are:

  • pencil (x1)
  • scissors (x1)
  • 12mm by 25.4 mm paper stock (x1)
  • 12mm by 17.5 mm paper stock (x4)
  • white poster paint (x1)
  • black poster paint (x1)
  • yellow poster paint (x1)
  • blue poster paint (x1)
  • red poster paint (x1)
  • paintbrush (x1)

For this step you will need:

  • 12 mm by 25.4 mm paper stock (x1)
  • 12 mm by 17.5 mm paper stock (x2)
  • hot glue gun (x1)
  • hot glue gun stick (x1)

Stick the two 17.5 mm by 12mm paper stocks onto the 12 mm by 25.4 mm paper stock using hot glue to create the base of the bookends.

Step 2. Creating the Shape of the Rainbow

For this step you will need:

  • 12 mm by 17.5 mm paper stock (x2)
  • pencil (x1)
  • scissors (x1)

Cut the two paper stock pieces into a rainbow shape by using a pencil to help with doing a rough sketch of the rainbow and using scissors to cut it out.

Then using the pencil trace out 10 lines to help with painting the colours of the rainbow in the next step.

Step 3. Painting the Rainbow!

For this step you will need:

  • white poster paint (x1)
  • black poster paint (x1)
  • yellow poster paint (x1)
  • blue poster paint (x1)
  • red poster paint (x1)
  • paintbrush (x1)

I have chosen to use the colours that are mentioned above as it will make it easier to create colours such as purple, orange, pink, etc. You can you any colours you want but I have just chosen the colours shown in the photo. After painting your rainbow, let it to dry for 24 hours or until it as completely dried up.
