DIY Quicksand
Quicksand is an amazing material, yet it is hard to find, and when you do find it....eek! The first thought on mind probably isn't getting it in a jar or container, it is probably trying to get out of it! That is why I created this fun and safe way to enjoy quicksand, and make it yourself!
**NOTE**: This is not real quicksand. You will not die. Don't worry, sometimes it is also known as other things, but I called it quicksand for it's amazing texture!
Ingredients!!
You will need:
A bowl, container, or jar
Cornstarch (It's hard to see in the picture, I apologize, but I used ARGO cornstarch)
Food Coloring!! (I used yellow for an authentic feel!!)
Water!!
That is all you need to get started!!
Pour in 1 Cup of Cornstarch
Pour in 1 cup of Cornstarch into your bowl. (Or container or jar or whatever!)
1 cup of Cornstarch is not necessary, however, you will need to balance out the amount depending on how much cornstarch is used.
Pour in Water
This is the part where it gets a little bit tricky! There really is no set amount of water, you need to gauge how much water you need to add. The perfect consistency is a firm feel.
(I did not think it was necessary to add in pictures of me pouring water. Back off haters!)
P.S. That was my sense of humor right there!!
ANYWAYS!!!
Stir
Stir it up until it gets to the perfect consistency I was talking about earlier! Make sure to scrape the sides too!
Add Food Coloring
Add as much food coloring as desired. I used about 7 drops to get the yellow shade I desired. Mix in the food coloring!
Add More Cornstarch If Needed
If your batch of quicksand is too watery, add in a little more cornstarch until the consistency is perfect.
And that's it, you're done!!
If anyone knows what this is actually called, comment in the section below! Thank you for reading this instructable!
