First, things first you have to get your star shaped balloon blowed up. When I bought my balloon it had air in it already but if it’s not blown yet get a balloon inflater. Then open the colorful party hats and choose five only. Then you will use the masking tape to tape the party hats in each corner. Quick tip try to put as many strips of masking tape as you can because it will stay together better.

Cutting Up Magazines/Newspapers for the Piñata

First, thing first you can use any type of paper but I will really recommend using newspapers and magazines. So what you need to do is cut the paper into strips. Try to cut as many strips as you can because we are going to make 2 layers on the piñata.

Making the Papier-mâché Paste

What I did to make this paste was I got about 1 cup of whole wheat flour but I will also recommend white flour. Then I got 1 1/2 cups of water. So first you have to start boiling the water. Then when it gets to a boiling point then put your flour in and mix try not to stop mixing. Then about 5-8 minutes later you are good to go.

Time to Papier-mâché/ Warning ⚠️ Might Get Messy.

So first thing first try to do this part probably outside or somewhere that you don’t mind getting a little messy. So what you have to do is get a strip then simply put it in the paste when you get it out take your two fingers and rub of all the excess paste off the strip of paper. But be careful because you could accidentally rip the strip. Then when you have done all of that put the strip on the balloon. Then you get a strip and dip it into the paste then you put it on the ballon but you have to overlap it on the first strip of paper that you put and you just keep on going until you finished the first layer. I would recommend to let it dry in the sun for about 1-2 hours then you could start with the second layer.

Doing the Second Layer

When the first layer has dried completely then it is time for the second layer. All you have to do is repeat the same steps when you were layering the first layer. But this time I would recommend to get a cup and put something in the cup to weigh it down. Then take the piñata and put one of the corners in the cup and you could work with it and it will be much better. Let it dry and then cut a hole to put the candies.

When decorating get the tissue paper and pick as many colorful tissue as you want. First, you have to get tissue paper and cut them into strips. Then when you have one of the strip of colorful tissue then get a bit and fold it. When you have folded it cut only a little in the edges. Afterwards put the strip of the tissue paper to the side and make as many more as you can. When it comes to decorating it will take a bit of time. But I promise you it will come out beautiful and it will be worth it. When you have cut enough tissue to put on the piñata start making the glue. All you have to do is get 1/4 of glue and just drizzle a little bit of water and get a paint brush and mix it. Then after doing all of that you are ready to decorate. First you have to choose what color your are going to start first I used yellow for my first layer. All you have to doing is put a bit of glue on the piñata and then attach the tissue paper. It will overlap a bit on the party hat. Then when you finished the first layer pick another color and you over lap it on the first layer of tissue paper. You just keep on going until you finished. Then when you finish do the other side of the piñata and decorate it.

In the sides you will put tissue paper and you could pick any color you want. Try to cover as much as possible.

Put the String on the Piñata

All you have to do is get a skewer and poke 2 holes. Then you get a very strong string and put the string through the hole. After that tie it up.

Putting the Candies

Buy a pack of candy that you like and put them in the piñata. I got sweet tarts, Swedish fish, nerds, haribo, sour patch kids, twizzlers twist, starburst, and skittles. I recommend to get tiny candies for it to fit in the piñata.

Enjoy
