DIY Pikachu Shoes
Pokemon fans rejoice! The time has come to hit the theaters to see our favorite Pokemon take the big screen. This electrifying character has been a fan-favorite and staple since the franchise started. We're so excited to see him come to life in his very own movie. But when a character is portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, it's hard not to be a hit.
If you're heading to the theater this weekend to catch the Pokemon Detective Pikachu premiere, why not do it in style? You can suit up as a Pokemon trainer or your favorite pocket monster. Or you can opt for a more subtle outfit.
You can turn any ensemble into a Pokemon ensemble with these adorable DIY Pikachu shoes. With a few supplies and minimal DIY skills, you can transform a plain pair of white canvas shoes into Pika-shoes!
Supplies
- White canvas shoes
- Acrylic paint – Yellow, black, white, red, pink
- Felt – yellow
- Paintbrushes – skinny and wide widths
- Yellow shoelaces
- Needle and thread
- Painter’s Tape
- Pencil
- Pikachu shoes template PDF
Remove Laces & Tape Off Soles
Remove the white shoelaces and line the soles with painter's tape.
Paint
Paint the canvas shoes yellow. Don't forget the tongue.
Let the shoes dry completely before moving to the next step.
Transform the Template
Trace the Pikachu face on the back of the template with a pencil. Fill in areas as well.
Place the template on top of the shoe and outline the template with a pencil again.
When you remove the template, the pencil markings from the back of the paper should've have transferred to the shoe.
Paint the Details
With small brushes, paint the details on the face. Eyes and mouth should be black. Cheeks and tongue will be red.
Create & Attach the Ears
Cut out 4 shapes from the yellow felt for the ears. Adhere them to the sides of the shoes and paint the tips of the ears black.
