DIY Paracord Bracelet With a Magnetic Buckle

Sometimes it's nice to have a paracord bracelet with a buckel that is slim on one hand and very fast and silent to open on the other hand. For example you can store more paracord than with a normal buckel.

Here I will show you an easy way to build a small magnetic buckel within a few minutes.

First you will need a few supplies:

Paracord! A piece that fits around your wrist (black) and some cord for the stitches (camouflage).
Two magnets. I used magnets from a geomag set. You could also use Neodym-magnets, but I didn't had them available.

Second you need a some tools:

a lighter to burn the ends
a pencil to stretch out the ends of the paracord
a pair of pliers
a knife (you could use every knife, but I like my Mercator ;) ...)
scissors
a flat surface that does't burn

Step 1:

Cut a piece of paracord for your inner strand. It should fit around your wrist nicely + about 1,5 cm for the magnets on both ends.

Then cut it and lay them aside, you won't need them.

Step 2: (not Needed If You Use Neodym Magnets)

Take the knife and your Geomag. Cut away the plastic coating carefully.

If you have done that put away the metal rod from the middle and lay it aside. We won't need it.

Just take the magnets from the ends and prepare them for the next step.

Step 3:

Take your gutted piece of paracord and widen it with the sharpened end of the pencil until you have something that looks like the ends on the pictures.

After that put in one of the magnets.

Than twist the ends and grip the magnet with the pliers.

Now carefully burn the ends and press the molten plastic on a flat surface, don't burn yourself. After that you will have something like on the pictures. Trim the edges.

Repeat the process on the other sides.

Step 4:

After you finished both ends you can start the actual stitching.

In my case it's a basic cobra stitch.
