Lassi is a popular traditional curd-based drink widely used in India during the summer. Generally Lassi is served in a container made with glass/plastic or clay pot. In my location, clay pots are mostly used. So I am really lucky to collect those clay pot. After drinking the lassi, I never throw it out rather kept it for making crafts or any useful things.

Make a water drainage hole at the bottom of the pot. Drainage hole is important to keep plants healthy. Planter without a drainage hole can cause root rot.

Drilling a terracotta pot is really tricky, if you apply much pressure it will break.

So, first add some water and drill the hole by using a masonry drill bit.

Painting the Pot

Clean the pot with a dry cloth and apply a coat of primer first.

Before applying the Rust-Oleum paint, shake it vigorously for one minute.

Apply a light coat of Rust-Oleum Stone Effects spray paint all around the pot and leave it to dry. Keep the can with same distance from the surface and in motion while spraying. After drying apply the second coat to give a finish stone texture.

Note : Always apply the spray paint in a well ventilated area.Use nose musk during spraying the paint.

I prepare the paint by using acrylic wall putty.

The main reason for using the putty is to give a projected painting effect .

To stick the acrylic to the pot surface, I mixed craft glue with it.

If the mixture is too much thick, add small amount of water in it.

Making the Paint Dispencer

It is really difficult to apply the thick putty paint by using a normal painting brush.

So, I made a cone shape container ( like Mehndi Cone ) by using a thick plastic sheet. For better understanding you can watch my YouTube video.

Filled up the cone by prepared putty mix and seal the mouth properly by using cello tape.

Make a small hole at the tip by cutting it down.

Draw the art work by using a pencil first. If you are good in drawing, then you can leave this.

Paint the pot by squeezing the cone slowly and following the pencil line.

The main thing to apply the paint from the cone is to hold the cone correctly. Your hand must be comfortable while holding it. Squeeze little at a time, do not apply too much force.

Decorate the Planter

Once the painting is done leave it to dry for a hour.

Then apply small amount of fabric glue at desired location and paste the rhinestone crystals.

It is very difficult to pick and paste the tiny rhinestone crystal by hand, so use a tweezers for easy handling. I used different color crystals to give better look.

Filling the Planter With Soil

Now you can fill the pot by fast draining potting soil /cactus soil.Don't fill it completely, leave some room.

Make a small hole at the center of the filled soil to plant the succulent.

Plant the Succulent

Place the succulents into the hole and add soil in around them.

Then water the plant just until water begins to run out the bottom of the pot. Let the water drain completely and then place the pot in a bright, warm place.

Now you can add small stones all around the plant just like the above picture.

To avoid water seepage from the pot, place it on a planter tray.
