Pick a t shirt you don’t really wear or like anymore, the bigger the shirt the bigger your tote bag will be!

Cut Off the Sleeves

lay the t shirt flat and cut off both sleeves following the seam lines. These will become the handles for your bag.

Cut the Neckline

Cut a U shaped neckline, this opening will be the top of your tote bag but make it as wide or narrow as you like.

Trim the Bottom (optional)

If the t shirt is too long you can trim a few inches from the bottom to make the bag the perfect size for your liking.

Make Fringe Cuts

At the bottom of the shirt, cut vertical slits about one inch wide and two to three inches long. These will create fingers along the bottom edge of the shirt.

Tie the Fringe

Tie the front and back fringe pieces together in double knots. This will close the bottom of the bag and for extra strength you can double knot each pair.
