This is my first post and by the time im going to show you a 2 days project: A Homemade Negatoscope or "Box of Light". This tool its used by healthcare to detail a radiography.

Step 1: Materials and Design

For this Simple project I use:

  • Wooden slats 0,5cm of thickness
  • 2 x AWG18 Wire (2 meters)
  • 1 x White Light Bulb
  • Acrylic Sheet
  • Terminal Block
  • On/Off Switch
  • Fuse Holder and a 5 Amp Fuse to Protect the Bulb.
  • Industrial Glue
  • White Paint (Spray recommended)
  • Tools like Dremmel and saw

It haves a simple design with a small inclination at the front panel so can be used in two diferent ways to get comfortable: working stand-up or sitted.

Step 2: How It Looks Finished

Someting important to know is that this negatoscope works with a voltaje 120VAC so its circuit is easy to make. All the components have to be connected in series. A Terminal block can help you making the connections you have to made a piece of cake just hold your DVM next to you and be carefull with any short circuit.

Its recommended to paint with a light/reflecting color Inside the box to increase the power of the lamp, i use white paint but silver can works too.
