DIY Miniature Clay Sweet Platter
“Miniature Sweet Platter” is a handcrafted clay artwork inspired by the diverse world of Indian sweets. Every tiny sweet in this platter from kaju katli to jalebi has been sculpted with fine detailing to capture the authentic textures, shapes, and festive charm of traditional Sweets.
Supplies
- Fevicryl Mould It (Air-dry clay)
- Clay sculpting tools (needle tool, shaping tools, cutting tools)
- Acrylic paints
- White paint
- Glue
- Glitter or metallic paint
- Talcum powder
- Varnish
Prepare the Clay and Make Mini Sweets
Mix the resin part and the hardener in Fevicryl Mould.
Dust hands and tools lightly with talcum powder to avoid sticking.
Make the platter with the pattern in the corner using the tools.
Now make all the sweets in the platter,
Kaju Katli: Flatten white clay, cut into perfect diamonds.
Laddus: Roll small balls..
Jalebi: Roll thin clay ropes and swirl them in loops.
Gujiya: Make a semi-circular pocket, pinch the edges for the pattern.
Soan Papdi: Cut tiny squares and decorate with pista bits at top.
Milk Sweet Rolls: Shape smooth rounds and and flatten it.
Drying
Let all pieces dry completely for at least 24 hours until firm.
They must be fully hard before painting.
Paint White As the Base
Once fully dry, apply a thin, even coat of white paint over all the sweets and the base.
This helps the final acrylic colours appear brighter, smoother, and more realistic.
Let the base coat dry completely.
Paint All the Sweets and Platter
Paint the platter using gold acrylic paint.
Use acrylic paints to add realistic colours and shading to each sweet.
Add metallic or glitter paint to enhance sweets like kaju katli.
Assemble All the Sweets in the Platter
Arrange the painted sweets on the clay platter.
Secure each piece with glue after final placement.
Allow the the paint to dry completely.
Apply Varnish or gloss for the final touch (optional).
