DIY Mason Jar Garden

Want to start gardening but not sure how to? Here's a great idea for beginner gardeners. Though it's nothing new, I'm sure you've seen many mason jar gardens but some crafts never get old and you find joy every time you craft one! The best thing about this mason jar garden is that the supplies you need to make it are near-to-hand. Use an old mason jar, collect the rocks, soil mix and plants and make one!

To make this mini garden in a jar you'll need:

1. Mason jar (any size you want),
2. Small rocks (enough to create a layer on the bottom of the jar),
3. Soil mix,
4. Succulent plants or plants that require less nurturing and water,
5. Small shells.,
6. Poster color and clear nail polish.

Wash and clean the jar nicely.

Collect enough small rocks to cover the bottom of the jar.

Paint small rocks with poster colors to make mushrooms. After the paint dries apply a coat of clear nail polish so that the paint doesn't wear off.

Collect the plants you want to plant in the jar. I collected a small aloe vera plant and a small succulent plant. Make sure that the plants have roots.

Create a layer of rocks on the bottom of the jar but the height shouldn't be more than 3 cm. These rocks will help to drain excess water.

Add an inch or more of soil mix on top of the rock layer,

Press the soil with your finger to create hole and plant the plants carefully,

After planting add the painted mushrooms, shells and small stones around the plants. Do not add too much detail, keep at least 1 cm space around the plants.

Done! Super easy and cute! These are great for indoor gardening as you can move them easily from one place to another. Water them twice a week, take them outside or near the sunlight 2-3 times a week.
