DIY Magazine Paper Dress

Have you ever wanted to wear a dress made mostly from recyclable materials? Well, now you can! This tutorial will teach you how to make your very own Magazine Paper Dress!!!

Materials

For this dress, you will need:
   *Three or Four Magazines
   *Three pieces of Newspaper (Preferably only pieces with B&W writing)
   *One Sewing Machine
         - If you do not own a sewing machine, use a needle.
   *Black Thread
   *Scissors
   *Long White Tank Top (thin straps)
   *Black Zipper
   * 1 Black Sharpie marker

Go get all of your materials.

Look in a Magazine and Rip Out:
   *Nine Red Pages
   *Nine Orange Pages
   *Nine Yellow Pages
   *Nine Green Pages
   *Nine Blue Pages
   *Nine Purple Pages 
   *Nine Pink Pages
   *Three Black Pages
Keep in mind that these pages do not have to be completely one color; just mostly that color.

*Note: If you do not feel safe ripping out the pages, you can cut them out with scissors.

Fold the Paper into Small Triangles:
   1. Have the paper with the side you want showing on the dress facing down on a flat surface.
   2. Fold over the top two corners, one by one. Make sure that they meet in the middle.
   3. Fold the bottom half over onto the corners.
   4. Fold over the two ends. 
   5. Flip over the triangle
   6. Repeat steps 1-5 until all of the magazine papers colored magazine papers have been folded.

NOTE: Do NOT fold the black magazine paper or the newspaper yet.

Align the magazine triangles with the flat edges overlapping each other. Sew the magazine triangles together using a sewing machine.

Repeat Steps 5 until you have rows of triangles in this order:
1 row of 5 red triangles
1 row of 4 orange triangles
1 row of 5 yellow triangles
1 row of 4 green triangles
1 row of 5 blue triangles
1 row of 4 purple triangles
1 row of 5 pink triangles
1 row of 4 red triangles
1 row of 5 orange triangles
1 row of 4 yellow triangles
1 row of 5 green triangles
1 row of 4 blue triangles
1 row of 5 purple triangles
1 row of 4 pink triangles

Pin the two first rows together, having them overlap. Then sew them together using the sewing machine with the first of the rows on top. Repeat this step adding a row to the bottom each time.

Fold the belt. Then sew the belt together with the sewing machine having it on a wide setting so that the belt will not rip.
Now put the belt off to the side.

Sew the three pieces of newspaper together. Use a sharpie to draw the line shown in the photo. Then sew on that line with the sewing machine.  Cut just outside of the sewing. Carefully turn the piece inside out.

Sew two straight darts onto the front of the dress.

Cut back of tank top and sew onto dress as shown in photo.

Sew triangle row skirt onto bottom of newspaper top.

Sew belt onto dress as shown in photo.
