DIY LED Lamp

Hello there, in this post we will see how we can reuse old material and build a beautiful DIY LED lamp. This is a very simple project with minimal materials and can be made by anyone. This is a very useful 12V lamp that can be used as a study table lamp, an emergency lamp when the lights go out, a decorative element, etc.

Supplies we need:

1. Farmley Makhana Box (Reusing) Note: You can use any cylindrical cardboard container, or PVC pipe.
2. LED Strip (Warm Color)
3. Cardboard
4. Lamination Sheet or Diffuser Sheet
5. Utility Knife
6. Fevi Kwik (Super Glue)

Using the utility knife, cut the container as shown in the image, or you can create your own design of your choice.

The container has a diameter of 4 cm and a height of 19 cm. I cut a piece of cardboard measuring 17 cm in length and 7 cm in width. Then, I attached about 5 strips of 18 LEDs each to the cardboard.

Next, connect all the positive wires together and all the negative wires together. Choose one positive and one negative wire to connect to the power supply.

Note: I’m using a 12V LED strip.

Now place the cardboard LED strip inside the container as shown in the image and secure it in place with super glue. Make sure to make a small hole at the back of the container to pull out the positive and negative wires.

I have decorated the lamp with a wooden texture vinyl sheet. You can either skip this step or use any color or design you like.

Now take the lamination sheet and cut it to a size that covers your design as shown in the image. Keep it 1–2 cm wider so you can secure it in place with super glue or tape.

Note: I’m using an unheated lamination sheet because it is translucent and works well as a light diffuser. Once it is heated, it becomes transparent, and the interior will be visible.

Since this LED strip runs on 12V, I connected it to a 12V adapter instead of a battery. If you want to use it as an emergency lamp, you can connect it to a 12V battery.

Bonus: You can also use 5V LED strips. I didn’t find a 5V strip, so I used a 12V one instead.
