DIY LED Kitchen/Home Light Setup

This full kitchen light set up may look difficult. But with a little time and elbow grease it was a breeze to have a one of a kind kitchen setup. I used the Lavolta 3 CL 20 B the 3 CL 40 B and the 3 CL 50 B that's a 9 foot 18 foot and 23 foot version. These lights have a great peel and stick option but also have built-in screw holes on each side of the three LED modules. The overall standout feature of these are that they’re ip67 waterproof which means they are ideal for watercraft or in home situations like so where they may come in contact with a splash or two.

Since we're doing a full lighting setup I’m using 150 light run and four of the 20 light runs but every situation will be a little different because of the distances and how you prefer your lights to be but this will give you an idea on how each of these products work so you are able to create your own setup.

To achieve the desired effect we did lay some groundwork by fishing some power through the wall and setting up some switches but this isn't necessary these lights can work on their own just with the controller. I added power outlets in areas that coordinate with the switches. The three power supplies will go to each outlet and so will the three separate controllers.

I placed all the lights where I wanted. I put a couple of the 20 light strands along the floor boards and a few more of the 20 light strands along the molding underneath the cabinet.

You most likely need to cut some openings for the wiring. Just run them as long as you need them and then feel free to cut them off.

For the top I did the same thing but used the 50 light strands for the extra length. The top section connected easily to its controller.

For under the top cabinets I started by drilling small holes on the inside. Using male-to-male adapter as well as extension cables all fastened together with heat shrink. I ran the wires up the interior of the cabinet from the left and right.

As for the lowest layer we have the controller under the sink and use the splitter and a hole in the bottom of the cabinet to run one line to the nearby light. For the other line I used the extensions under the floor via basement access to light the strand on the other end of the stove.

And that's it! A fully functional three layered lighting setup!

Now for running more than one stretch of lights these controllers use 12 volts of DC power but more importantly they handle up to 15 amps. Feel free to hook up as many lights as you want to a controller but make sure the amount of light does not exceed 15 amps. Also make sure your power adapter is 12 volt with more amps than you are drawing added up. That being said you can hook up as many 15 amp drawing controllers to a power supply, so long as the power supply puts out enough amps for what each of the LEDs through the controller is drawing.

Unlike me you may want all of your lights to be controlled by one remote. Then make sure when using multiple controllers to link the data connections with two conductor wire.
